Mark S. Bruhn
Associate Vice President, Public Safety and Institutional Assurance

 Mark Bruhn has been with Indiana University for 26 years, and is currently Associate Vice President for Public Safety and Institutional Assurance.

In the Indiana University Office of the Executive Vice President for University Regional Affairs, Planning, and Policy, Bruhn provides executive leadership and oversight for, and advises the Vice President and President on issues related to: emergency management and response, administrative and academic continuity, policing and community safety, homeland security, emergency communications, enterprise risk management, privacy, physical security of facilities, and environmental health and safety. In the Indiana University Office of the Vice President for Information Technology and CIO, Bruhn provides executive leadership and oversight for, and advises the Vice President and President on activities related to security of computer and telecommunications systems; privacy; incident response; continuity of operations; and appropriate collection, deployment, handling, and security of institutional and personal information.  (http://ovpit.iu.edu).

Bruhn also serves as an Associate Director in the IU Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research.  (http://cacr.iu.edu).

In 2001, Bruhn was co-founder, along with then-VP-IT and current Indiana University President Michael McRobbie, of the IU-based Research and Educational Networking Information Sharing and Analysis Center (REN-ISAC, at http://www.ren-isac.net), and is Executive Director Emeritus.

Mark is an adjunct faculty member in the Indiana University School of Informatics and Computing and contributes to student education in cybersecurity and other assurance topics through guest lectures and course development.  

Prior to employment at Indiana University, Bruhn was a member of the United States Air Force for more than eight years, in which he served at various locations as in the area of Air Defense, Electronic Warfare Operations, OPSEC, COMSEC, and PHYSSEC.
