Applied Technologies Laboratory
The evolution of information technology will likely continue along many trajectories, including greater storage, networking capabilities, processing power, mobility, and more. Assessing new technologies, their fit with existing technologies, and their relevance to the university community requires important decisions of timing, sequence, and investment. Using them wisely is an essential responsibility of a leading 21st-century university.
The Applied Technologies Laboratory, under the direction of the Futures Council, evaluates and assesses emerging new technologies by means of rapid test and trial projects. Activities include research, testing and prototyping, and rapid deployment.
The Laboratory also sponsors the TechTalk Series of discussions on new and emerging technologies, providing a forum for technology-focused presentations and discussions.
